HOLYCRAPSOMEBODYELSENEARMEHASACLASSIC500!!!
Remember several years ago when I discovered a place near me that had not one, but TWO classic 500s, and I lost my mind because they are very rare in Canada, let alone Nova Scotia?
WELL ANOTHER ONE MOVED INTO THE NEIGHBOURHOOD! In a house of folks I used to do computer work for, but recently moved, no less!
Nobody was around for me to chat with as I went past today, but you can bet your butt I’ll be going past whenever I am in town to have a chat at some point! :D
It’s a FIAT 500F and, oddly enough, has what research seems to tell me are ‘Allied Forces Italy’ US plates...?

(course...i think that was a comment on the fp somewhere...so could be a whole load of bull)

Yes we do, many cars have been brought to Hawaii and Japan that never would have been there. Also the other way around, I bet most American muscle cars in Germany were brought by service peoples.

No they do....but the thing is, I’m in Canada! So maybe the car wore that plate WAY back when or something in the ‘70s (it is a white on black plate, which seem to be historic possibly
...?) and the owner left the plate on the car when it arrived here and hasn’t got a Nova Scotian plate yet? Or maybe they’ll put the NS plate in the rear window and leave that one on the back? I don’t know!
I just know I want to meet the guy! :D

Although it isn’t yellow, it could be a paint job or a wrap. Better lob a call out to Inspector Zenigata...
...you know, just in case Lupin is snooping around for his next heist.

Well, Canada is part of NATO and one of NATO’s two original Mediterranean commands was called Allied Forces Southern Europe, which was headquartered in Naples, and existed until 2004, when it was renamed Joint Force Command Naples in a general reorganization. And Canada does, of course, participate in all that - the current deputy commander of JFC Naples is a Canadian Army general.

:P
The only other ones I’ve ever seen (back in 2015) weren’t yellow either! A very light blue-white and a lovely shade of deep
gray!

Hmmm....could’ve been a modern plate then?

When m y step-brother was to be transferr ed to Germany, he sold his 944 and b ought a Corvette to ship over , which he sold shortly after arrival for a healthy profit.
One of my client’s sons brought back a classic 500 for his dad when his stint in Italy wa s over.

I have heard many stories. I am out but my cousin is in for life, he could arrange something for me I guess.

Or at least a Canadian serviceman, vs an undocumented immigrant from down south. One way to check is to follow him on Saturday morning, see if he hangs around the Home Hardware parking lot looking for drywall work, to earn money to send home to his family in the United States.

Start looking for something that you want or tha t you can cash in on to get what you want. There are many highly desir able cars that are waiting to be scooped up by collectors and enthusiasts.

I’m maxed out, I finished a 71 240Z and now I’m working on a 1952 Dodge M37 military truck. I still have an old diesel Mercedes and my Acura wagon . I will try to keep these and not have to sell any . If I ever have a house with a garage and space I may look. my wife is from Japan, I used to live there. I would probably just do some more stuff to the vehicles I have unless something really changes. The Mercedes could use a few things, it’s a family car so it’s got many years of memories, I’d like to repair some stuff.

If you can import and turn a car quickly, it could fund your repairs, or get you closer to buying that house. Just food for thought. The current economic climate has decreased the a. mount of “fun/hobby” cash. Serious collectors may be ready with cash though.

Ah you have another “why don’t I just walk down the block again in case he’s home” neighbor. The guy near me that owns the Fintail and all the others never was outside ever. Those are fun.

Well....it’s more like a ‘
drive for 5 minutes on a country road into the small neighbouring town and drive past his house’ type neighbour :P
